In Rutland visitors can find artists, craftsmen and specialist shops offering
hand painted china and crockery, by Wendy De Vertuil and designer outfits, just below Rockingham Castle at Jilly's dress agency. Tattersalls of Uppingham has years of expertise in oriental antique rugs, whilst father,son and daughter at Finnemore and Son stonemasons produce stone fireplaces and garden ornaments, to order. Floral designs, from Earthworks in Uppingham, run by Julia Dilworth offers original arrangements for every special occasion.
Simon Todd carves out myths and legends at his Green Man studio with

Rutland's old stone villages lie between Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. The two country towns, Uppingham and Oakham, still have markets on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Nearby Burghley House, Rockingham Castle, Uppingham’s Christmas Livestock Market, Exton’s annual Street Market, Morris Dancing, Music in Lyddington, local craft fairs all add to a lively English country scene for Rutland visitors to discover.
