WALKING around RIVERMEAD FARM

WALKING AT RIVERMEAD FARM

Set in the Glynn Valley with the River Fowey on its southern boundary Rivermead Farm has 30 acres of unrestricted peaceful walking.

The walks are easy going with little or no gradient and plenty of interesting things to see particularly for the nature lover.

All the family including the family dog will love the freedom and space that Rivermead Farm has to offer.

THE RIVER WALK

We have approximately one mile of the River Fowey.

The riverside is treelined and the paths are well maintained for easy walking and just two minutes from your accommodation, ideal for that evening stroll.

There is every possibility of catching sight of a sea trout jumping in the river; you may also spot the kingfishers, which are often seen flying up and down the river. There are several species of wild flowers too especially in the spring when the bluebells and daffodils adorn the riverbanks.

THE LAKE and WATERMEADOW

Vegetation has been allowed to develop on part of the lake in order to encourage the insect and pond life some no doubt are enjoyed by the brown trout who are resident in the lake.

Water iris and many different grasses grow here making this particular walk very enjoyable.

Red deer frequently visit the lake to drink, however, you may have to get up quite early in order to spot them.

There are many wild flowers in this area but we do intend to introduce further specimens of plants that are indigenous to the Cornish countryside in the near future.

MEADOW WALKS

All the pasture meadows are available to our visitors for walking.

Every season at Rivermead has something special to offer to our visitors when walking on the land.

Springtime here is particularly attractive with its abundance of bluebells; daffodils, wild primroses and violets interspersed among the many trees, which at this time of year are getting ready to burst into leaf.

Summer heralds the arrival of the foxgloves, water iris, red campion, ragged robin and many more varieties of wild meadow flowers.

Late September and early October brings with it a magic all it's own, the trees take on the autumnal shades of red and gold so enhancing the already spectacular Glynn Valley.

BIRD LIFE

Visitors will be delighted by the variety of wild birds that frequent Rivermead Farm.

Among the most popular are the nuthatches, Great tit, Blue tit,
Greater spotted woodpecker, Green woodpecker, Swallows, House martins and many more
