What is the Ockley Society?

Good question and if you are interested, many more will spring to mind ... like, What’s its purpose, What does it do, How do you join, who’s on it?

To many villagers, especially in recent years, the name itself doesn’t automatically answer the headline question let alone suggest answers to the other questions (particularly as individual perceptions to the meaning of the word ‘Society’ can vary hugely. Shown above is an Ockley Oak Tree. Ockley is rich in oak trees and these are often used to symbolise the village. The Ockley Society uses an oak tree as its symbol.
