Imagine your own photograph turned into a work of art!
Oil Paintings from a Photograph-A New Painting Tradition.
Many professional painters and graphic artists use photographs for their work as a matter of course. Ever since the invention of photography, artists have made use of it in their painting. Many master painters, such as Degas, Delacroix and Manet, were quick to see the potential of the camera in their work, and among more recent painters, Munch, Nash and Hockney have all acknowledged the use of photography.
An original oil painting makes a perfect and very exclusive gift. A gift that will be treasured by the recipient for a lifetime. Rest assured, whether it is your family portrait, a classic car, your home, yacht, or a well loved pet, your painting will be a gift to be proud of.
The important thing is that you supply us with a very clear photograph, in as large a size as possible. Please make sure that you consider the photograph a good likeness of the subject. If you have any particular instructions, (e.g. eye colours if indistinct) please include them also.

Please do not confuse this service with the "canvas effect" style or "oil painting effect" style offered by some photographic studios. This is the genuine article. We have only the finest Belgian Linen and the materials we use alone cost far more than the imitation oil painting style offered elsewhere. And yet, if you compare the costs you will see that our service is very reasonable and affordable.(Typical example 24"x20" "canvas" £120-source local photographer who expects client to collect product and there is no guarantee!) Our artists are regularly receiving return commissions from happy clients from the past. We are certain that you will be delighted with your painting. So convinced are we of your satisfaction that we can offer our unique guarantee. If you are in anyway dissatisfied with the result, we will retouch or refund. No arguments. Let our portraitists demonstrate their unsurpassed skills to you, at no risk to yourself.

Equine Portraiture This is a highly specialised field, and we are sure you will agree that our artists are of unsurpassable skill. As a result of this, however, the demand for paintings of horses is high, which often results in a "waiting list". Please contact us to find out more about this very popular service. N.B. Due to the present FMD outbreak, we are unable to visit stables to make preliminary sketches etc. However, excellent results are obtained using good quality photographs to paint from. As always, this also results in a considerable saving of time and expense. For guidance in chosing suitable photographs, see below.
Other Pets Please contact us for details about this service.
Portraits
Portrait painting demands the greatest possible responsibility from the artist. Of all the painting genres,I would say it is the most difficult. Portraits are the acid-test of an artist's ability. Everything hinges on a combination of the artist's affinity with people and the skill and virtuosity of the artist. We consider that of prime importance in a portrait is it's physical accuracy, it's likeness to the sitter, which in turn will reveal an aspect of the character; this may be interpreted through the eyes, or facial expression, stance etc.
We consider as invalid any excuse given by some artists to cloak their inability to portray the integral beauty or likeness of the sitter. These excuses are such phrases as an "inner likeness", or "an inner truth revealed".
Portraiture is not easy. It can take several false starts before the artist is satisfied with his work. Please be patient while you wait for your commission to be completed. Our priority is to provide you with the best possible artwork. In today's world of "instant solutions", it is still not possible to churn out high quality artwork. Accordingly,as an approximate guide, please allow about 4-8 weeks for the completion of your commission. This is dependant on the complexity of the work, the season, our current workload and a number of other factors. On receipt of your painting, we are sure that you will agree that the wait was worthwhile. Our artists will not sacrifice quality for the sake of speed. We trust you find this reassuring. To get some idea of what happens during the creation of our artwork, see "How It's Done" under "Reproduction of Masterpieces" The Mole End team consider it imperative to maintain high standards for our clients. We use only the very best materials. e.g. white lead ground and the very finest Belgian linen. These alone cost far more than other people's completed prints etc.We consider that quality cannot be rushed. If you have never commissioned a painting before, a portrait of a loved one is a good place to start. We know that you will be delighted on receipt of your painting. The vibrant colours, the feel of quality, the smell of the oils! Once experienced, you will never be satisfied with other peoples prints and reproductions again. Look at what you can pay for a print in your local stores. Is the small saving(if any!)worth it? Do you really feel that a person as discerning as yourself deserves anything less than the genuine article? We consider that our artists are without parallel. Our praise from those in the know confirms it. You too can order a painting without risk. We do not want dissatisfied customers, if you are dissatisfied with the result,(we are sure you won't be!) we will retouch, replace or refund. Our e-gallery provides very talented artists with the chance to demonstrate their unique ability to our clients whilst offering the above copper-bottomed guarantee. A portrait is a true test of an artist. Why not treat yourself and put our artist to the test? You have nothing to loose.

When sending photographs please remember.
- Clarity,Clarity,Clarity! Please make sure that the photograph you send is very clear,if possible of professional-type quality. We want to do the best we can for you! e.g. a school photo of two children should be fine.
- The bigger the better! It is far easier to work from larger photos where important details like eye colour are easily discernable. We cannot really begin work on anything smaller than a postcard.Ideally minimum size 6"x4". No polaroids please!
- If your photograph is of sentimental value,or precious to you, it may be worth having a copy made, before posting. We will take every care with your picture, but there is always a chance that it could become lost or damaged in the post on the way to us. If it is your only copy, please consider sending it by registered post. Protective envelopes are inexpensive and should safeguard your precious photographs.
If you need any further advice about this please e-mail us. It is no bother. People are doing it all the time. Look forward to hearing from you.
