Trayner Pinhole Glasses put my Eyesight Back in Focus
By Sherron Mayes Taken from ‘The Daily Mail’ Good Health Developments.
A REMARKABLE pair of spectacles is helping people improve their eyesight as well as reducing their heart rate, headaches and tension.
Pinhole glasses – like sunglasses with a grid of tiny holes – are a cheap and easy to correct poor vision permanently when worn for just 15 minutes a day, according to the manufacturers.
The Body and Mind Shop are now introducing Trayner Pinhole Glasses to their customers saying tests on the £25 pinhole glasses show that they can help alleviate VDU eyestrain, fatigue and long and short-sightedness.
Looking through the pinholes makes blurred vision sharper, even though they look as if it could be obscured. This can help people, focus in the distance, watch TV or see close or small print where they had previously needed glasses.
Studies have shown that wearing them for only 15 to 20 minutes a day helps the focusing muscles of the eye to grow stronger. There are notice improvements within a few weeks.
In many cases eyesight has been corrected back to 20/20 vision, alleviating long and short-sightedness and even curing stigmatism after long periods of wearing time.. The principle and the theory behind pinholes glasses of central focusing has been around for the last 100 years and discovered by ‘Bates’ a pioneering optician, who developed exercises, which achieved the same aim of using the eye correctly without straining. ‘very few people are born with poor vision, most is acquired,’ he says.
‘Bad eyesight is known to be caused by too much strain in the eye muscles. Some developed reduced eyesight through doing alot of close work such as studying using a computer or reading in bed (particularly children reading under the bedclothes).
‘Others as they get older find it difficult to focus close to. When faced with a blurred image, the brain moves the focus of the eye in and out a little looking for an increase in contrast. If no contrast is found the brain leaves the eye unfocused.
‘The pinhole spectacles sharpen up the image. The holes are spaced to provide an artificially small pupil whichever way the eye focuses. The muscle of the eye is then stretched so the eye can focus again. ‘Myopia – short-sightedness – presbyopia- long sightedness – occur do to the condition of the muscle inside of the eye.
The lens is flexible and connected by fibres to the muscle. The tension in these fibres stretch the lens into a flattened shape which lets it bring distant objects into focus. For near objects, the muscle pulls in, reducing the tension in the lens, which fattens to adjust to the focus.
Orthodox glasses have shown that, over time, they encourage the eye to become lazy and the vision gets weaker. Corrective lenses do not allow eye muscles to be exercised so that you can see into the distance but they remain tense and distorted. Stronger prescriptions are then given.
Trayner Pinhole Glasses that are Good for Heart & Eyes
The pinholes need to be worn for only a short periods a day, while you continue to wear your normal glasses or contact lenses the rest of the time. They have been connected to reduced heart rates when they are worn by VDU users.
Experiments by Trayner have shown that when looking at a computer screen, the eyes begins to release stress hormones after a few minutes because of the fixed focus required. This raises the heart rate by 5 per cent, causing tension around the shoulders, which can lead to headaches.
‘The pinholes, being smaller than the eye’s normal pupil size, relax the eye without losing the clarity of image. The reduced tension in the eye is felt immediately and, within minutes, the heart rate returns to normal, ‘says Mr Duthie.
Maggie Gold , 53 from West Hampstead, London is a partner in a property development company and has been wearing the pinhole glasses for more than 5 years.
Last year an optician told her that she no longer needed to wear spectacles as her eyesight has returned to a healthy 20/20 vision.
She says: ‘ I began wearing the alternative glasses for 20 years.
‘The effects were immediate. As soon as I put them on I was amazed at the clarity of my vision and continued to wear them for 15 minutes a day, sometimes more.
‘Within a few weeks I noticed that my eyesight was beginning to improve without even wearing the glasses. I would go to a restaurant and see the menu clearly or I’d pick up a newspaper and read the small print without squinting or going out of focus.
‘And not only did they help eyestrain but they seemed to protect my eyes when I was using the computer. Before, they would get bloodshot and itchy after I’d been looking at the screen for a while. But when I used the pinholes those symptoms no longer occurred.’
The glasses are a way of correcting vision in an affordable way. You need to buy only one pair that never needs replacing..
