Ear candle treatment is a safe, simple home remedy for relieving pressure, fighting infection, and gently removing toxins and excess wax from inside the ears. Long, tapered candles are inserted into the ears and lit. Warm, dry, powdery smoke from the candle draws out excess fluids, wax and toxic debris by osmosis. At the same time, vaporised beeswax and herbal essences in the smoke infuse their natural infection-fighting properties into the inner ear, sinuses and lymph drainage system. The entire process is relaxing and non-invasive.
Therapy recommendation
Both ears on principle should always treated one after the other. We generally recommend 1 treatment daily for up to 7 days in acute cases, 1-2 times a week for chronic indications, and 1 treatment regularly every 3-4 weeks for preventative or for revitalising indications. No contra-indications are known to date, but as a precautionary measure we advise against using the candle if the eardrum is perforated or in the event of an allergic reaction to the ccontents.
Preparation
The candles are easy to use. Ensure that the atmosphere is calm and relaxed, so that the EARcandle can display its full effect. The patient can contribute here by keeping his eyes closed. Before the therapy is started, ensure that there are no draughts in the room. Place a glass of water within easy reach, so that the remainder of the EARcandle can be extinguished after it has been burned down.
Methodology
Take precise note of the following instructions and their sequence:
Lighting - Lie the patient down on his /her side in a comfortable position. Support the head slightly so that the auditory canal is in the vertical position. It is best to sit on a chair by the patients head. Now light an EARcandle at the plain end.
Positioning - Fit the lit EARcandle (not the burning end of course!) gently but tightly into the auditory canal with a gently twisting movement. If the candle fits properly, no mist concentrate should issue from between the EARcandle and the ear.
Therapy - Hold the EARcandle loosely between the thumb and fore finger during the therapy. Do not squeeze tightly together! Keep as vertical as possible! The patient will experience a pleasant crackling and rustling noise during the burning. In the final phase, the heat flow intensifies comfortingly and pleasantly. Do not worry: the linen fabric has already burned does not fall during the burning process. As a precaution, however, the surrounding region of the head can be covered with a cloth.
Extinguishing - Leave the EARcandle in place until it has burned down to 70mm. NO FURTHER! Carefully remove the remainder of the EARcandle and extinguish it in the glass of water kept ready.
Subsequent Rest - After both ears have been treated in succession, we recommend a subsequent rest of 10-15 minutes. This assists the overall effect extremely positively. The patient should be lying down in the warm. Cover him/her if necessary.
Checking - Check the external auditory canal for any condensate residues. Re-move these carefully with an ear cleaner or small wooden stick. Do not push them back into the ear. Do-not use cotton-wool tip.
Vitalising - Intensify the achieved energy circulation by massaging around the ear with a suitable cell-flow moisturising into the lymphatic tracts of the neck, the area below the ears and both ear shells, from the inside and the outside.
Foot Reflexology points related to the ears can also be included together with sinus points for extra clearance and relaxation.
