Markets in country towns add colour to the local scene and offer great value too.

Oakham, Uppingham, Market Harborough, Stamford, Saffron Walden, Ely are all very attractive country towns in the shire counties of England. Their street markets continue ancient rights to trade but as times change so do marketeers.

There are still family run stalls providing tremendous choice and value in fruit and vegetables, bread, cakes and confectionary – but today’s markets sometimes include more specialist traders like artists, toy and gift makers, plant nurserymen, florists, specialistcheesemongers and fish and seafood suppliers all offering a range of produce second to none.

A number of these companies run modern mail-order sections as well.
