When Andrew Steven started our family firm back in 1960, he ran lorries transporting turf and garden supplies.

Andrew realised that diversification was the key to success, and the operation soon grew to take in other items, including winter supplies of coal.

In 1968 Andrew took over City Garden Service, and the business took on the shape which still applies today, with Andrew, son Matthew, and daughter-in-law Donna (who looks after the books) running the two separate firms side by side.

Matthew, who officially joined the firm in the early 1980’s, after getting involved in the business at an early age, now runs the Plant Hire and Transport. This incorporates both the hire of plant and equipment, and the hire of lorries, complete with a driver, to transport machinery and other equipment.
