Art For Clean Water

Two Scottish Artists are setting out to raise funds in this new initiative to help provide Clean Water to 2000 villagers of Kajugangoma in Uganda.

At 5000 feet above sea level the villagers are scatterrd in little hamlets aroud the ridges of this broken country. The existing water supply...

This Rural Water Supply project will also address issues of Improved Sanitation and include programme of Health and Hygiene education.

The two artists, Ali Abubakar of Glasgow and Laura
Newbury of Stirling are coordinating closely with Glasgow architect Ian Rankin who is a director o Christian Engineers In Development, (CED). CED is a charity organsation run by a group of engineers and othe professional to provide expertiese in Developing contries.

''We are preparing to raise funds iv a variety of ways, including our basic Blatant Begging - most of which will be ebegging,'' said Ali. ''Our primary strategy involves bringing together lots of equal-minded supporters from all areas of our relationships - this could be tough, but it'll surely be fun - and fruitful in the end.

''We are also raising our productivity so that we can give large propotions of our nett revenue - in some cases up to 85% - to the project,'' said mother of teenage twins, Laura Newbury.
